Shri Alok Tandon IAS (Retd.)

Shri Alok Tandon, IAS (Retd.) is the Chairperson of the Commission. He assumed the post of Chairperson, JERC (for the State of Goa & UTs) w.e.f. 31st March, 2023. Shri Tandon, is an Electrical Engineer (B.Tech.) from IIT-Kanpur (1984 batch), and the recipient of the President's Gold Medal. He has a Masters degree in Public Policy from Princeton University (2006) and a recipient of World Bank’s Robert S. McNamara Fellowship. Additionally, he holds a Ph.D. in Economics. He was also awarded the Chevening Gurukul Scholarship by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in the year 2010. Sh. Tandon joined Indian Administrative Service in 1986 and was allotted UP cadre. He has held various positions in the government of UP including Chairman-cum-Managing Director of UP Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam, Chairman-cum-CEO Noida Authority and Infrastructure & Industrial Development Commissioner. Sh. Tandon has also held significant administrative positions in the Govt of India. He has worked as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Finance, (October, 2011 to June, 2016) and as Secretary, Ministry of Mines, (January, 2021 to September, 2022).

Smt. Jyoti Prasad

Member (Law) , JERC

Smt. Jyoti Prasad took over as Member (Law), Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission for the State of Goa and UTs on 06/12/2021. Ms Jyoti Prasad, a Science & Law Graduate from Delhi University, was a practicing Lawyer in Delhi High Court. Before joining JERC for the State of Goa &amp. UTs, she has served Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. for over 28 years. During her tenure with Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., she immensely contributed to dealing with arbitration-related cases, contract laws, service laws, regulatory and advisory issues. She also took an active part in handling advisory issues of various departments in the corporate center. Smt. Jyoti Prasad also worked in POSOCO and made significant contributions to all the regulations of CERC as well as the regulatory issues of POSOCO, including the RLDCs. She also actively participated in all regulatory matters relating to the Central Transmission Utility (CTU) Department, Grant of Connectivity, and Open Access to the Transmission System. She has also handled cases of CERC, APTEL, Delhi High Court, and Supreme Court. Ms. Jyoti Prasad has immense experience in the Power Sector with varied issues pertaining to the implementation of renewable power, provided valuable inputs towards framing of regulations in CERC in matters relating to grant of Connectivity and Open Access to the Transmission System, including providing inputs towards framing of regulations by CERC.
